The Strategy/Identity Nexus: China's and India's Approaches towards Southeast Asia

Publication at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Faculty of Social Sciences |
2015

Abstract

The paper uses the concept of regional international societies developed by the English School of International Relations to examine China's and India's approach towards the region of Southeast Asia. Through the constructivist oriented lenses, the paper aims to examine how both countries' views on what the region should influence both strategy and identity.

Strategy and identity, thus, should not be seen as different (or opposing) but as being parts of the same nexus.
