Abstract

Population censuses belongs to the key sources of information not only for the analysis of population structures, but contain important information for the assessment of the character and changes in reproductive behavior. Especially in connection with the transformation of fertility in Slovakia and the Czech Republic they are extremely valuable.

The cohort perspective offered by censuses, combined with other population structures, can identify the key aspects of changes in the realized fertility and structure of women by parity and brings some opportunities for the construction of projection scenarios. The aim of this paper is to analyze patterns and changes in the realized fertility in Slovakia and the Czech Republic in the context of increased childlessness.

Finally, we are also trying, in conjunction with some other partial information to evaluate possible future developments of this phenomenon in the Slovak and Czech society.
