Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a severe neurological disease that affects approximately 17,000 patients in the Czech Republic. These patients require long term specialised care.
This paper summarises diagnostic options and new diagnostic criteria and addresses issues related to biological treatment - how to start, to monitor, and to end the treatment. The paper further briefly discusses the relationship between MS and gravidity, the Czech national registry ReMuS and the patients' organizations Roska and SMS club.
The main emphasis is laid on early diagnosis and treatment and necessity of comprehensive approach to patient care
