Abstract

The authors set themselves a task to evaluate the influence of elastic tape applied on the paravertebral muscles of lumbar spine on the extent of mass movements during trunk flexion. Moreover, was compared this effect with the influence of another elastic materiál applied in the same way.

In randomly selected sample of 50 healthy probands at the age of 18-20 years the elastic tape was applied on paravertebral muscles of lumbar spine and the extent of movements in forward bend was evaluated by means on the Thomayer and Schober probe before and after application. The same procedure was performed in a control group, where another elastic materiál was applied.

The results indicated that the application of elastic tape exerts a statisticlly significant effect of the increase of the extent of movement into flexion of the trunk. The effect of the different elastic material increased extend of movements was neither confirmed nor excluded.
