Abstract
The way of becoming into existence of Icelandic family sagas is desrcirbed. 13th century on Iceland, time of writing the manuscripts, is analyzed as well as the time of settelment, i.e. 10th-11th century, when the sagas of Icelanders started their oral existence. Specifics of each of sagas are mentioned.
