The aim of contribution is to summarize the development of historiography in the second half of the 20th century and describe the basic changes of historical research that led to the formation of historical anthropology. The origins of historical anthropology are sought in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century by the upcoming generation of French school Annales, by the Italian microhistory and gradually also in German historians who have studied the history of everyday life.
In the 80s there was significant penetration of anthropology into historiography in German and this has led to the criticism of historical social sciences. They have been criticized for emphasis on the society and socioeconomic relations.
This debate was the beginning of formation of historical anthropology bringing new concepts nad methods to study the past.
