The Image of the Other : The Case of Eighteenth-Century Tuscan Travellers in England

Abstrakt

This study is based on testimonies of six eighteenth-century Tuscan travellers to England. It analyses three interconnected aspects of the travellers' identification displayed in confrontation with the Other: Enlightenment, positive stereotyping and the feeling of their own Italian decadence.
