When Hans Christian Andersens's fairy tales were translated into "bohmisk" for the first time

Abstract

The article coveres the early history of translating Andersen into Czech. It tells a story of the tranlation practice of that time, but not less interestingly a story of the importance of having an Andersen of one's own, since the first translations of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales into Czech can be interpreted as a part of the Czech national movement in the 19th century.
