Abstract

Rubén Darío expresses in his work the main concerns of the artists at the turn of the 20th century. He is one of the founders of the modern Hispanoamerican short-story.

Darío concentrates on three major tpics: the relationship between the artist and the society, the fantastic motives and the situation of the Hispanoamerican countires and their future. His vision is often bitter and sad, but despite that, Darío always craves for harmony: not just a poetic one, but also a harmony of a human being with the Universe.
