The article discusses the life and work of Czech poet Jan Zahradníček. It is published to commemorate the 110th anniversary of his birth, and notes Zahradníček's place in the context of Czech poetry of the 30s and 40s.
The focus is also on the turn of the 40s and 50s when Zahradníček created his greatest poetic composition, but also when he was arrested and sentenced in the political process. The text follows also take the form of poetry of Jan Zahradníček, that emerged during his imprisonment.
