Funding of higher education in the Slovak Republic: current situation, trends and comparisons with the Czech Republic

Abstract
Funding of higher education in the Slovak Republic (SR) is, as in the Czech Republic (CR), realized mostly from public sources that naturally come up against their limits. In comparison with the EU or OECD countries, the Slovak higher education is deeply and in the long term underfunded despite some minor improvements in recent years.
The study focuses on developments in higher education funding in the wider context and in more detail elaborates and compares the mechanisms and rules for the funding of universities in the Slovak Republic and in the Czech Republic in 2015.
