The chapter analyzes certain forms of diffusion of Simon Bolivar's image in the Colombian society of the late nineteenth century. The forms of diffusion that will be analyzed include articles in the journal El Papel Periódico Ilustrado (1881-1887) and the monument created to celebrate the first centenary of Bolivar's birthdate in 1883.
These two forms of mediation, which were both related to Alberto Urdaneta, an influential member of Colombian elites, are framed within the consolidation process of the pantheon of heroes in Colombia during the period of "Regeneration".
