Abstract

The unemployment rate in the European Union is increasing. The depression in the previous years has shown, that the labour market must adapt to the new situation.

Adoption of the legal framework could also help to solve the problems. The aim of this article is to show the benefits and disadvantages of the atypical types of the employment, like part-time jobs, job-sharing and home office in the Czech Republic.

This article is focused on employees taking care of children. These employees are often unable to compete to the full-time employees.

Taking care of the family requires some special conditions, like reduced or floating working time. It is shown that atypical types of employment could help to find the balance between the professional career and the family life, while preserving qualification and working habits of the employee, thus to help to reduce the unemployment.
