This article presents the basic biographical data of Jiří Kolář and attempts to capture his movement between verbal and visual art. In the context of his verbal art, attention is devoted to his diary entries and his interest in ordinary, everyday life and language.
The main object of analysis consists, however, in Kolář's texts from the final period of his life, when he sent collages above all to his wife Běla (but also to other women) in the form of postcards, and also wrote short postcard messages to his wife on a daily basis (Psáno na pohlednice I, II (Written on Postcards I, II)). The concluding section is devoted to the last collection of Kolář's texts, entitled Záznamy (Records), consisting of fragments of diary entries.
