This chapter discusses Czech contributions (as well as German language ones) from the Czech territory into the history of ethnomusicology. The narrative oscillates between the historical approach and personal recollections, and shows two general features: 1) diachronic continuity (even in very unfavorable times, it is possible to follow the transfer of the baton of an interest and its cultural connections. 2) A reade can realize an interlocking of that interest with social conditions.
