Abstract
The work of Franz Kafka influenced Louis Paul Boon in the 1950s in a special way. My thesis is that 'Goodbye crocodile or the price list of happiness' (1959) strongly is influenced by Kafka as well.
By reaching the reviews of Boon about Kafka I try to determine what Boon interested in the work of Kafka and what the influence of Kafka is. Boon saw Kafka as a surrealist.
The fine art of the surrealists had earlier his interest, but Kafka was for him the writer who could serve him as a literary example.
