Rachel L. Greenblatt, "To Tell Their Children." Jewish Communal Memory in Early Modern Prague

Abstract

Review of the cultural-historical publication concerning the history of Jews in Prague in the 14th -18th centuries and historical writings that originated there in the mentioned periods. A special interest is devoted to Hebrew and Yiddish literary sources, i. e. tombstone inscriptions, donation inscriptions of ritual objects, poetry, chronicles, family scrolls, and official documents of literary character.

Besides the basic evaluation of the author's work, the review compares her new elaboration of the mentioned sources with earlier studies.
