Abstract
The Single Rulebook is the first pillar of an emerging banking union. The basis of the Single Rulebook is the CRD IV/CRR package, which contains a regulation and a directive.
The following contribution aims at introducing the main reasons why it had been considered necessary to adopt a harmonized set of rules regarding this matter and to outline the advantages of such harmonization. In contrast, it also points out the potential problems and tries to predict possible consequences resulting from the adoption of the Single Rulebook.
