Abstract
Chapter examines the life stories and especially the work of an important representative of Czech Animal Husbandry focused mainly on cattle breeding purposes Joseph Šmerha. This personality is seen in terms of its teaching and research work, and also notes his managerial activities in the Czech Husbandry, where based on historical foundations.
History and formed an important part of his approach to solving the current problems of the Czech / Czechoslovak agriculture.
