The Influence of Compression Pressure on Transport Properties of Polypyrrole Nanotubes

Abstract

In this study we present the influence of compression conditions on charge transport properties of polypyrrole nanotubes prepared with methyl orange as template. Conductivity increases with increasing pressure up to about 200 MPa and then remains constant.

Conductivity was further increased, about 5 %, by the double compression. From temperature dependence of conductivity the charge transport mechanism was evaluated using the variable range hopping (VRH) model.

The more compact structure induced by higher pressure is believed to influence charge transport through introduction of better order on molecular level.
