Abstract

The evaluation of efficacy and safety of tissue glues in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Methods: There were evaluated cohort of 39 patients who underwent laparoscopic resection of kidney with the use of the tissue glue to resected area.

In 23 patients there were used cyanoacrylate glue Glubran II and in 13 fibrin sealant Tisseel. The surgical results, complications and oncologic outcomes were assessed.

Results: Median follow-up was 22 months. The patients with glue Glubran II was length of surgery 157 (64-284) minutes and blood loss 184 (10-700) ml.

Patients with Tisseel had mean length of surgery 110 (45-145) minutes and blood loss 167 (50-500) ml. No complications were recorded during surgery and no blood transfusion was needed.

No positive surgical margin was recorded and no local or distant recurrence was depicted. Conclusion: The tissue glues Glubran II and Tisseeel were effective and ensured rapid haemostasis in our cohort of patients.

We did not observed significant differences between both tissue glues.
