Abstract
The author in the article looks back at the summer courses of Czech for compatriots from Texas, in which she taught annually in the years 1986 - 2011 in Prague. Courses were co-organised by the Czechoslovak Foreign Institute and the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague.
They were oriented practicaly and offered knowledge of the Czech language and national culture. The author met wtih Texan Czech also in Texas during her teaching of the Czech language in Nebraska (at UNO).
