The paper regards vampirism as an autonomous and unique religious phenomenon which can be counted among expressions of contemporary religiosity. Subsequently, it offers a new re-interpretation of the "vampire myth", using the Swedish film Let the Right One In (2008).

In particular, employing insights from queer theory it seeks to show that Let the Right One In tears down some deep-rooted ideas on vampires, especially with regard to thein sexuality. Instead, it presents an image of a vampire-outsider who searches for his/her own identity and an authentic relatioship with the other.

The present paper thus opens space for new possibilities of exploring vampirism as one of the phenomena of contemporary religiosity.
