In science education, eye-tracking research method allows us to follow student's attention which he or she devoted to areas of a presented material. The paper presents typical qualitative approaches to data analysis which can give us deeper understanding of students' way of thinking: watching a record, gaze plots and heat maps.Illustrations are results of a research focused on graphing in kinematics in physic education.
For the research eye-tracker TX300 by Tobii with frequency 300 Hz was used; 23 students mostly at tertiary level of education were involved in the research. Testing tasks were adopted from the Test of Understanding Graphs in Kinematics developed by Beichner (1994).
In the paper, limitations of methods are discussed as well.
