Abstract

The chapter concerns party leadership in the contemporary Czech politics. The study examines the formal aspects of party leadership as defined by party statutes and other inner-party documents.

It also addresses the question of its practical functioning, especially when it comes to how party leaders are elected and how their position changes in time. Attention has also been given to personality and political characteristics of particular Czech political party leaders.
