This paper presents selected architectural drawings of synagogue organs held by the European Centre for Jewish Music (EZJM) at the Hanover University of Music. The interpretation of the drawings of the organs of the synagogues in Strasbourg, Krefeld and Berlin (Oranienburger Straße) is complemented by the historical background and organ-building details of these instruments, none of which is preserved.
The study shows the significance of architectural drawings of organs as a source for research at the intersection of architectural history and musicology.
