Circumstances of Life-imprisonmnent in the Czech Republic

Abstract

The paper deals with the complex conditions of persons who were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Czech Republic. At present, life imprisonment performs throughout the Czech Republic 50 individuals.

Moreover, the number of persons sentenced to this punishment is growing. Professional care for these prisoners is highly specific and within recent changes in legislation complicated, requiring a comprehensive assessment and carefully thought out successive steps of creating conditions for individual prisoner.

The paper discuss possible fulfillment of the recommendations of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, in particular point of integration between commonly follows sentenced inmates. The paper deals with the concrete possibilities of prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment in the Czech Republic, the complex conditions in the prison and their future prospects in comparison with other countries.
