Abstract
The increasing demand for professional community interpreters leads to the creation of teaching programmes; in the Czech Republic, the Institute of Translation Studies of the Charles University in Prague is one of two universities where community interpreting is tought. This paper aims to describe teaching objectives and methods applied in the course Komunitní tlumočení I (Community interpreting I), to evaluate their effectiveness and suggest further improvements.
