Abstract
Gout is frequent and serious disease, with increasing prevalence in most developed countries. Aging population, increasing standard of life, prevalence of diseases as arterial hypertension or renal diseases, frequent therapy with drugs increasing urikemia (diuretics, cyclosporine at al.), are some reasons for such increase.
There is higher risk of accelerated atherosclerosis complication in patients suffering by gout.
