Benin Bronze Art: Dialectics between Continuity and Discontinuity

Abstract

The study deals with developmental changes of Benin bronze artefacts after the 1897 British invasion of the Benin Empire. The study aims at describing the discontinuity caused by the British invasion and the subsequent cultural revitalization of traditional Benin bronze casters when they became independent of the king and court art.
