The aim of the article is to demonstrate the category of expressivity in newspaper ""Čas"" during the one of the most actual issues of modern Latvian society: acceptance or rejection of amendments to the law. Expressivity is a category which reinforces the emotional effects on the recipients consciousness and shapes the public opinion.
Expressivity can be implemented in all language levels. The paper shows certain trends, how the category of expressivity is displayed in Russian edition: use of colloquial lexemes, dysphemisms, euphemisms, metaphors, hyperboles.
The material proves that the autor's position and situation assessment is implemented in all language levels from lexical to stylistics.
