Richard Jeřábek, The Biographical Dictionary of European Ethnology

Abstract

The critical review analyzes biographical dictionary of European ethnology written by important Czech ethnologist Richard Jeřábek and puts it into wider historical and contemporary context of similar dictionaries and encyclopedical works in fields of European ethnology, folkloristics and sociocultural anthropology. Special emphasis is put on methodology of selecting the entries and entries from field of literary, or, more specifically, prosaic folkloristics.
