A Comparison between Czech and Italian performances when solving a geometrical problem

Publication at Faculty of Education |
2015

Abstract

The concepts of area and perimeter of 2D shapes belong to the basic concepts of primary school geometry. In both countries, Italy and the Czech Republic, problems with understanding these concepts not only by young pupils could be observed for a long time.

The poster presents the results of a research study conducted with the aim of comparing the behaviour of pupils and 'young teachers' from two different countries when facing some non-standard problems on perimeter and area.
