In my paper I am dealing with the relationship between Martin Luther and Desiderius Erasmus, two of the key figures of the sixteenth century. From current perspective and on the basis of usual protestant evaluation of Desiderius Erasmus, it may seem like there was a major twist in this relationship as Erasmus is quite often viewed as a predecessor of Martin Luther, who only during the outbreak of reformation pulled his support off and became a sworn enemy.
However, from the testimony of the personal correspondence, it is apparent that both persons reproached their counterparts for basically the same things from the very first encounter, as I am showing in my paper. Thus it can be said that their attitude to one another evinces a great amount of consistency.
