Kapláneks love of Venus and the story of Willmanns images in Chrast

Abstract

There are two important altarpieces St. John the Baptist and Holy Family with a little John the Baptist in Chrast's church.

It is a work of baroque Silesian painter Michael Leopold Willmann (1630-1706). Originally it was assumed that images were founded by the bishop of Hradec Králové Jan Krystof from Talmberga (1680-1697), but according to the latest research, donations worth a former dean Jan Vojtěch Kaplánek (1630? -1698).
