Abstract

Especially preachers and Bible-educated laity should not miss the second edition of the pilgrimage songs from John Heller and George Benes. This expression is traditionally called a special unit of 15 psalms (Ps 120-134) that are listed, with one minor exception, expression lat-ha Maalot, which can be translated as performing a song or a song of pilgrims.

Pilgrimage songs originally formed a coherent whole liturgical and apparently were sung during pilgrimages to Jerusalem. Community pilgrims (communion viatorum) are on their way to the holy city singing internally identified with the central events of the Israel brought out of Egypt.

Among a group of pilgrims and Israel Moses' time was thus bridging the gap of time and the two communities became one of God's people. Although the songs were created at different times, eventually forming a complete liturgical text, the system reflects all the important features of the faith of Israel.

Authors comments in this respect resemble several hypothetical division, which is trying collection of psalms reveal the intentions of the pilgrimage liturgy.
