The first military survey is one of the earliest comparative cartographic sources that is in recent years the subject of many studies and researches. It is unique not only for the maps, but also for the texts documenting the landscape of the Czech lands in the pre-industrial period.
On the example of the Northeast-Bohemian Town of Opočno this study deals with the evaluation of the quantity and quality of the informations of a mapping and a written operates of this source, and their mutual comparisons.
