The language of Kinnaur and its connection with the language of Zhangzhung

Abstract

This paper deals with the words that are recorded in Bon text as Zhangzhung language. Several of them are found in the Tibeto-Burmese languages of the Himalayan region.

Of the particular focus is the Kinnauri dialect that is spoken in the Northern part of India these days. Similarities in pronunciation and implementation of words that are found in the dialects and texts are compared.
