THE NEW CIVIL CODE AND ITS IMPACT ON SOCIETY AND TOURISM

Publication at Faculty of Law |
2014

Abstract

The new Civil Code, which is effective from the 1st January 2014, brings a number of fundamental changes in law. Public underestimates the possible impacts.

It is good to remember that for example France (a model for the legal culture of most of the world, including the Czech Republic) still has the Civil Code of 1804, which follows even to Roman law. The legal regulation of tourism in the Czech Republic is not fundamentally affected by the changes because of the major role played by European law.

For details, see the book Petráš: Právo a cestovní ruch (Law and Tourism), Praha 2013. The aim of the study is to elaborate a framework overview of the changes introduced by the new Civil Code, and analysis of potential impacts on society.

Methodically it is legal study. The result is an outline of the civil law tradition and current changes, then the expected impacts on society, followed by a view of tourism.
