Abstract
The publication defines and explains the concepts in the form of passwords used in the study of the occurrence, distribution and causes of the mass occurrence of diseases and health disorders. The main objective of the publication is an effort to unify epidemiological terminology, leading to the use of standard and comparable terms in scientific and routine work, and thus better mutual understanding in both the fields of epidemiology and public health, and among other medical disciplines.
Work includes passwords general epidemiology with a focus on the epidemiology of infectious diseases, epidemiological methodology, the most common terms used by health statistics epidemiology, as well as selected terms from related medical fields such as infectious medicine, medical microbiology and hygiene. Because many terms encountered in particular in English literature and its Czech translation is either apt or not used at all, they are placed in the dictionary and the English version.
