Somehow cannibals? Anthropofagy as a way to modern Brazilian identity

Abstract

The article maps the representation of Brazilian Indian in the history of Western literatures. The milestones are French travellers (Jean de Léry, André Thevet), European interwar avant-garde, Brazilian modernists and anthropophagy as a philosophy of Brazilian cultural history.
