To explain the process of adaptation to chronic pain is needed to assess the potential of adaptation of man before the creation of the painful condition and efficiency of the use of this potential in coping with the painful condition. These processes include proactive coping that includes the processes aimed at maintaining or improving the quality of life and processes aimed at achieving the objectives.
They were examined following questions: 1) How is the proactive coping dealing with the initial processes of psychological processing of chronic pain, with pain perception and evaluation of perceived pain? 2) How proactive coping influences the process of the consequent stages of psychological changes in chronic pain?
