2015

Abstract

The Book "Wisdom of the Old Czechs" subtitled "Age-old Foundations of National Resistance" occupies a unique place in the work of Roman Jakobson (1896-1982), published in American exile in 1943 and grew openly manifested in the ideology of the "Czechoslovak" patriotism, which is effectively involved in the national resistance against Nazism. New annotated edition of this book after seventy years accompanies an anthology of war controversy in which are represented outstanding personalities of Czech politics, science and culture: Stanislav Budín, J.

L. Hromádka, Adolf Hoffmeister, Jiří Voskovec, Eduard Goldstücker or Otakar Odložilík.

Extensive study of Editors Tomas Hermann and Milos Zelenka newly shows the position of Roman Jakobson in Czech culture and science.
