Complete 2-year clinical follow-up was obtained in 97.2% of all the patients. Following current guidelines, DAPT was withdrawn at 12 months, unless it was clinically indicated (i.e. patient with repeat revascularization within the first year).
This report, summarizing the first long-term outcomes of BVS in STEMI patients, shows that at 2-year follow-up, beyond the usual prescribed period of DAPT, no statistical differences seem to be present between BVS and EES in STEMI patients in terms of DOCE. In this sense, our data are in line with the recent observation of non-inferior vascular healing at 6-month follow-up in STEMI patients between BVS and EES.
