Legal regulation of nature conservation and landscape protection, including protection of wild animals and plants, is one of the fields with the longest tradition in the Czech environmental law. The core of today's legal regulation is the Act No. 114/1992 Coll., on the Conservation of Nature and Landscape, as amended; which is also the object of this Commentary.
Together with the Act No. 100/2001 Coll., on Environmental Impact Assessment, and the Act No. 183/2006 Coll., on Spatial Planning and Building Code (Building Act), it forms an imaginary triad of the most important laws in both theory and practise of environmental conservation, care and creation in the Czech Republic. Rich case-law and number of treatises underline their importance.
