The theme of identity has been discussed frequently within the Czechoslovak Hussite Church in recent years. The article attempts to identify the fundamental objective and subjective layers of the self-conception of the CHC with regard to Pastoral Care.
In the objective layer it comprises an overview of church documents, according to which a member of the church should abide. The subjective section on the self-conception of the CHC consists of a concrete subjective grasp, processing and practical activity with regard to objective and other factors.
The second part of the article presents examples of good practice, a specification of needs and possibilities for their satisfaction with regard to service in Pastoral Care. The reader is led towards a reflection, understanding and expression of the identity of the CHC, and of his or her own identity within this organisation.
On the basis of a communication of needs and concrete possibilities, a constructive discussion may develop within the church on the level of vicarages, with practical outputs into the life of the NO, the diocese and the church as a whole.
