Abstract
In the last few decades a significant trend in the prolongation of life-expectancy has been observed in many countries. This trend can be celebrated as one of humanity's major achievements; however, as a consequence, it has also contributed to the exponential growth in the proportion of older adults in the world population and to a higher economic burden on healthcare and social systems.
