Abstract
The study deals with the literary images of bed in the romances of the medieval poet Chrétien de Troyes, defining three frames of associations connected to this object. In the case of The Story of the Grail it identifies the bed as a basic component of its diptych-like structure.
The study shows also some analogies in the arthurian romances from the late medieval Czech literature.
