Abstract
The film industry was the first nationalized branch of Czechoslovak economy after World War II. Nationalization, at the same time, took place not only very fast, but was also done on unprecedented mass scale, which corresponded to almost absolute state film monopoly, which was also introduced and formally lasted until 1993.
The paper deals with causes of this fact and describes and analyses the prehistory, preparation, conception and the practical consequences of the adoption of the Presidential Decree No. 50/1945 Col. On Measures in the Area of Film.
