Abstract
While there are many new biographies of important czech historians in czech historiography without any theoretical reflection of the genre of biography, in european historiography are currently many debates on theory of biography and some authors debates about a "biographical turn". A paper si dealing with the genre of biography from theoretical perspective in context of history of czech historiography and present biography as a specific tool for historian useful for researching of a past of his own profession.
